Initial mCLASS TX (Lectura) Kindergarten Program Overview and Assessment Training

This 3-hour training focuses on the mCLASS TX Lectura (Spanish) Texas Kindergarten Literacy Screener assessment. This training prepares new users of mCLASS Lectura for Kindergarten to:

  • reliably score and administer the mCLASS Lectura (Spanish) Kindergarten literacy screener measures, and
  • ensure collection of reliable data using standardized guidelines and scoring rules. 

Participants will receive a high-level overview of the mCLASS Home Reporting and Instruction sections, lessons to support students, and a preview of the new biliteracy report feature available for the 2022–2023 school year. 

Please note that this training will only demo the mCLASS Lectura Home features and provide a high-level preview of the new biliteracy report. A detailed, in-depth training on the mCLASS Home features for Lectura will be available starting in September 2022.

Refresher Training for mCLASS TX (DIBELS 8) Kindergarten Measures

This 2-hour training focuses on the mCLASS TX DIBELS 8 (English) Texas Kindergarten Literacy Screener assessment. This training for teachers and leaders prepares returning mCLASS Kindergarten users experienced in DIBELS 8 to:

  • focus on scoring rules and administration for Phoneme Segmentation Fluency (PSF) and Nonsense Word Fluency (NWF) with guided and independent practice,  
  • review reporting and probe level details, and 
  • review best practices for instruction in mCLASS to support differentiated instruction.

Introduction to Progress Monitoring and Zones of Growth for mCLASS TX (DIBELS 8) Kindergarten

This 2-hour training focuses on mCLASS TX DIBELS 8 (English) Texas Kindergarten. Participants will gain an understanding of the research behind Zones of Growth (ZOG) and the goal setting tool within mCLASS DIBELS 8 (English) Home.

This training will explore the ZOG tool, share how to get started with progress monitoring (PM), and review PM best practices. Participants will see a demonstration of how to use the ZOG tool and the PM report to track student progress and determine adjustments to instruction to meet student needs. Beginning-of-Year data is not needed for this introductory session. 

Please note that a similar session will be available starting in September 2022 that focuses on learning and applying the skills above with BOY data. The sessions in September require that participants have BOY data.

Additionally, ZOG will be available for mCLASS Lectura in the 2023-2024 school year.

Introduction and Application of Progress Monitoring and Zones of Growth for mCLASS TX (DIBELS 8) Kindergarten

This training focuses on the mCLASS TX Lectura (Spanish) Texas Kindergarten Literacy Screener assessment and is prepared for new users of mCLASS Lectura for Kindergarten. 

Participants will explore the mCLASS Lectura reports, instructional supports, and lessons available for Lectura with live data and benchmark scores. Attendees will also learn effective progress monitoring practices, how to use the biliteracy report, and how to interpret the cross linguistic transfer recommendations.

Reporting and Instruction in mCLASS TX (Lectura) Kindergarten

This 2-hour training focuses on mCLASS TX DIBELS 8 (English) Texas Kindergarten. Participants will gain an understanding of the research behind Zones of Growth (ZOG) and the goal setting tool within mCLASS DIBELS 8 (English) Home. This session is designed for participants who have already given BOY benchmarking assessments and must have BOY data.

This training will explore the ZOG tool and the connection between ZOG and progress monitoring (PM) best practices. Teachers will have work time to apply what they are learning to their students' data in mCLASS to determine next steps instructionally.

Please note that a similar session is available for BOY training in August 2022 that gives a preview of the ZOG tool and the PM tool without the need for BOY data (Sessions in September require that participants have BOY data).

Additionally, Zones of Growth will be available for mCLASS Lectura in the 2023-2024 school year.

During this training, participants will:

  • learn how to interpret their students’ data by utilizing the reports available on mCLASS Home after their most recent benchmark assessment,
  • create action plans by utilizing the reports and skills-focused lesson plans available on mCLASS Home, and
  • review the new biliteracy report through a high-level preview of the report.

It is recommended that participants attend this session after the most recent benchmark window has closed so that participants can work with their own classroom data. 

Teachers will create instructional plans during the session and set goals for the next benchmarking period. We suggest participants attend a BOY and MOY training date for this training topic to engage in the same data-analysis and instruction cycle, evaluate progress, consider growth and proficiency, and set goals from BOY to MOY, and from MOY to EOY. 

Please note that, as previously mentioned, this session title is offered after both BOY benchmarking and MOY benchmarking periods to help educators make sense of their benchmarking data. This session topic was previously offered under the title of data-driven instructional planning in School Year (SY) 2021–2022 with some updates for SY 2022–2023.
